Vachu Chilakamarri's vision is highly abstract. She works primarily with oils to give the immediacy of mark making or gesture with confidence and speed.
"I create my paintings from dreams, life experiences, and from my poetry. I choose my themes by studying nature and common objects."
Her method is intuitive, energetic, evocative and emotional. "I love color and being able to express the thrill it gives me through painting."
Vachu has been a practicing artist for over two decades. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in various parts of the United States. She has served as a docent, instructor, and given various artist talks and lectures over the years.
